Safeguarding Sunday 2026

On Sunday 15 November 2026 and over the following weeks, thousands of churches from diverse backgrounds and traditions will join together to shout about safeguarding and help protect vulnerable people.

This initiative, spearheaded by Thirtyone:eight invites communities to come together to reflect on their safeguarding journey, and highlight all the good work that is being done to create safer places.

About Safeguarding Sunday       2026 Theme        FAQs

What's the big deal?

In its simplest terms, safeguarding is the protection of those in our care. In 1 Corinthians 13, we’re told that love protects. Safeguarding is an act of love. And love is central to our faith. Sadly, the church hasn’t always done this well. But we have a chance to change that. We are already seeing many churches take the responsibility to safeguard those in their care seriously. Join us!

Last year over 5,400 churches took part in Safeguarding Sunday, with an estimated reach of over 250,000 people. This year, with your help, we can create more safer places and protect more people from harm.

Once you have registered

You will have access to our all new 'Guide to Safeguarding Sunday' designed to help your church shape Safeguarding Sunday in ways that feel natural and meaningful where you are.

The guide is packed with ideas, reflections, and practical suggestions suitable for any context. Whether you’re planning a dedicated service or a short moment within your gathering, you can choose what works for you.

Registration also gives you access to a library of resources.

Registration is open in July 2026.
